GOALS:
- To ask and answer basic info about self (name, where from, bday, age, ph # etc. using alphabet, numbers 0-20, calendar)
- To comprehend basic info about another
- To recognize cultural differences in addressing people (tú v usted; vos)
- To be able to communicate and understand in the classroom, as a student aka "Classroom talk"
- Be able to identify Spanish Speaking countries and their capitals (may push back to Spring semester)

The final speaking exam is an opportunity for you to show me what you have learned this year, at an interpersonal (A/B conversation) level. The more you are able to say, the better. This means that if I happen to ask you a question, best not to answer in one word statements. Why? Although this may show me that you understand my question, it doesn’t show me that you are able to converse as well. Therefore, you will be assessed (via rubric) on your comprehension of questions I may ask you and how much you communicate in return.Good luck! From this semester units, you should be able to tell me the following:
- Your name
- Where you are from
- When your birthday is and how old you are
- Describe yourself:
- Physically
- Personality characteristics
- Talk about your likes/dislikes of activities and in certain types of weather or time of year
- Talk about your best friend(s): describe them, age & birthday, say what the like/don’t like etc.
- Talk about who is in your immediate family
- Describe some of your family members

Spanish Speaking Country Culture Project
This project will be worked on in class as well as outside of class, if not finished before Spring Break. Each student will be paired with a classmate (exchange phone numbers/emails!) and be assigned a Spanish Speaking country to research and present on. A five (5) minute Google Slides will be orally presented to the class, in English, post Spring Break.
Timeline: dates are approximate and subject to change depending on the school year
March 25 - April 10 Students research and assemble Slides in class
(Spring Break is April 6-10) Continue to work on project and rehearse
Monday, April 13 Practice presentation in pairs (~20 min); if time allows begin presentations
April 14 - 17 Presentations* & notes *all students must be prepared to present

Final Spring Oral Exam
For the Spring final exam you will reflect on everything you have learned this year and synthesize it into a monologue. Imagine that you are looking for your ideal college roommate and to find the best match you want them to know as much about you (and vise versa) as possible. You will have only a few minutes to talk to me one-on-one. Look back at our units from the year, all your classwork and “hazlo ahoras” to answer the questions below to help guide what you might say. Be prepared to answer candid, on topic questions from me!! On the day of the final you may NOT use any notes. There will be questions posted in English to help you remember what you’ve planned on talking about. I suggest you plan on talking about if not everything listed below, almost everything from each topic.
